Draining your Tuna Fish

Updated on May 24, 2012

Are you tired of Smelly Tuna Fish Hands?

So I made Tuna sandwiches for dinner - nothing fancy, just quick. I have to tell you how much I dread making Tuna. It is not that I do not love Tuna Fish - it is the whole draining the juice from the can.

You know how it goes you open the can with your can opener and some of the juice gets on you. Then you have to drain the can - so you press the top to realize it is not fully cut and it pops as you push it. So now you get Tuna juice in your face and on your clothing. Maybe it is just me. Nah I am sure I am not the only one. So now you have to push the can top down good and hard to get all that juice to drain as your hands get covered in the stinky tuna juice. Then you have to fight the cats away as they can smell the tuna from the other room. They want to come eat your fingers.

Ewwww and when the draining is done you are left with really smelly hands. You may even have to wash them a few times to get that smell out. But once that is all done you can move on to adding the mayo and all the other good stuff. Then you add some tuna to your bread and enjoy your sandwich. Is it all worth it?

Tuna Poll?

Have you heard of a Tuna Drainer?

And the Answer is.....

Yes of course it is, BUT there is a tool to help the smelly Tuna Fish Hands and I so have to have it. Not many people are aware of the Tuna Drainer. I had seen this some time back and never got one. Every time I make Tuna I kick myself for not getting it. Well folks after tonights dinner it is on order. I am so done with Tuna Juice all over me. So of course I had to share - that is what I do.

Some of you may not even know this exists and I may be saving someone else from the Tuna Smell and that would make me very happy.

So what is the Tuna Drainer? It is like a colander for your can. You open your Tuna Can, pull off the cover, stick in the drainer and press from the sides. Guess what? No smelly juice ever has to touch your hands - Yahoo!!! Can it be any better than that?

Who ever came up with this idea is a genius and probably Rich and not having to write about it on Hubpages. Why didn't I think of it?

And a book to go along with your meal

So now get ready to cook with your Tuna Fish

So now that draining your Tuna is no more of a big deal with your Tuna Drainer you can start using more Tuna in your cooking.

Now even though I just made simple sandwiches for dinner tonight. One of my husbands favorite things his mom use to make that I now make for him and the kids is Tuna on Toast.

It is similar to a Tuna Casserole. All you do is take a can of Tuna, a can of Cream of Mushroom soup and a can of Peas. Heat it all up in a pot. You can add some milk depending how thick you like it. Then you dump that on top of Buttered Toast. That is it.

You can do the same thing on top of noodles just like a casserole with out baking it - that is the way I like it. I am not the toast fan, but my husband and son both like that.
